Typhoon abates, schedule shifts

August 27th, 2005 | by aobaoill |

We’ve had a couple of snafus getting updates from Heather onto the site, but I hope to have matters resolved shortly. Things seem to be going well in the Irish camp, even if they did have to spend time on ergs instead of on the water.
From an event point of view, it appears that the threatened typhoon has actually abated, and rowing will now begin on Monday. Heather’s first race will be in the heats on Tuesday, though through the miracle of timezones I’ll be watching her race (10:30-11:00am Gifu time) at 9:30 on Monday evening.
And yes, I said watch. Rowing fans will know that the worldrowing.com site has a live race tracker that updates with split times as the race progresses. Those of us outside Europe also get the option of viewing live video footage online. This could be fun.
