Community stations licenses up for renewal

March 22nd, 2006 | by aobaoill |

The BCI have advertised for applications for community of interest stations serving student communities in Galway, Cork and Limerick. This is, essentially, part of the renewal process for Flirt FM, Cork Campus Radio, and Wired FM. They have also advertised for a community of interest station serving the Irish language community in Dublin, again part of a renewal process, this time for Raidio na Life. The Youghal community station is also up for renewal, as is the Tallaght FM license. Of course, given the applications process, it’s possible for other groups to apply for the licenses, thus possibly pushing these stations off the air, so it can be a tense process for stations.
