iTrips to be legalized in Ireland

May 29th, 2006 | by aobaoill |

Word from Comreg via Openspectrum and the Sunday Business Post is that a new European standard may soon legalize the use of iTrip-style devices in Ireland (and presumably elsewhere in Europe). Given that this new European standard will presumably be custom-crafted for micro-transmitters, I wonder how it will compare to the Part V ‘loophole’ used in the United States.
Coupled with an interesting workshop on the future of spectrum regulation (unfortunately happening this Wednesday, before I return to Ireland) things are definitely moving in Ireland, though it will be interesting to see in which direction they move.
