Liberals

It’s always useful to have a reminder regarding why being ‘liberal’ isn’t necessarily a sufficiently grounded political stance, and I must admit that they are the targets of some of my favourite aphorisms. This new quotation comes courtesy of Xan Brooks in the Guardian’s ‘The Informer’ briefing last Friday:

And yet evidence has always suggested that, by and large, the beautiful people of Beverly Hills are lower-case liberals and upper-case capitalists; happy to espouse left-leaning causes from time to time but equally happy to ditch them as soon as the stakes are raised.
