Another profile of Heather, as she reunites with the Irish squad in Cyprus

There’s a nice profile of my sister Heather in the Galway Independent today:

After a poor year by her own standards, Galway oarswoman Heather Boyle talks to Fergus Lynch about her bid to re-establish herself for Ireland ahead of the Olympics in Beijing. Heather Boyle’s laid back manner and sharp sense of humour contrast severely with the focus and drive that pushes one of Ireland’s most experienced rowers.

I’m always impressed by the thoughtfulness – and intense energy – Heather brings to her rowing. She has consistently worked to think seriously about how she should approach her rowing, and then bring that into action:

Over the last couple of years I tried to do everything really: work, study (Boyle qualified in February with a Diploma in PR to add to her Arts Degree from NUIG) and training hard. I guess it all caught up on me last year. When you are trying to push your body to such limits physically, and at the same time trying to manage a good healthy balance within a weight category, you have to be fresh and rested.
