Community Services grant for prospective community radio group in Athlone

Yet more Irish community radio stations on the horizon, with word of a group in Athlone that has just succceeded in gaining a government grant to support its work on planning for a station:

The plans for Luain FM Community Radio for Athlone are progressing well with the addition of funding from Pobail and the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs last week. The working group received €5,000 funding under the Community Services Programme.
The group have been investigating and developing plans for a community radio station for Athlone and its environs for a year now, and the announcement of this funding is seen as a major success.

Ros FM, the licensed station based in Roscommon town was also among those gaining grants.
