TV Turnoff Week

I knew TV Turnoff Week was just around the corner – I just hadn’t realised it was this week! Some find Adbusters annoying with their ritual “the networks won’t air an ad telling people TV is bad”, and some of their rhetoric can appear unthinking and reactionary. However it is useful to have an incentive to step back and think – about why you watch tv and what you watch. Spinning out from these questions are important issues concerning what is available (and who controls what is available) and, of course, what could be available.
