Repechage results

July 11th, 2003 | by aobaoill |

I’ve just woken and seen the results of Heather’s repechage, in which she came first (in 7min 54.93sec) and had the fastest time of any LW1x repechage! So now she goes to the A or B semi-final, which gives her a chance of the A final.
The progression in rowing races has always been something I’ve found complicated. The top placed boats in the heats go direct to the A or B semi-final, with everyone else going to the repechage. In Heather’s event the top two boats in each repechage move to the A/B semi-final, with the third boat going to the C Final. (There’s also a D final, but I’m not sure exactly who goes to that.) In turn, the 6 top placed boats in the A and B semi-finals move to the A final, with the rest fighting for positions 7-12 in the B final.
In any event, Heather’s now through to a Semi-final that takes place around 11:30 – central European time – tomorrow morning, which is 4:30am here. Could be a late night! And as always, of course, I’m wishing her the very best!
