In Iraq, women in fear

July 16th, 2003 | by aobaoill |

Already reported elsewhere, but deserves to be reported:

Women in Iraq are scared for their safety and unable to take part in the development of the country, says a human rights group. A report for Human Rights Watch says the fear of kidnap and rape means many women are not going to school or work. It says neither Iraqi police nor US forces are properly interested in cases of sexual violence and abduction. The groups adds that women’s participation is key to the renewal of the country.
