More site developments

There have been some more changes to funferal’s layout, for those who follow such things.
First, ‘Meta’ items – site news – now appear in the sidebar, but not in the main listing. Second, there have been a range of minor layout changes – such as now only listing 4 essays, and linking to a list of the other items in this category.
Third, I’ve added a calendar, with upcoming media related events. Unfortunately, my implementation of that has in turn caused ‘some’ difficulties with my RSS feed. I’m finding it difficult to develop a way to exclude certain categories from the RSS feed. Including markup similar to the html template seems to only result in a misformed feed. In the absence of this however, readers are treated to items dated from next year which crowd out older ‘real’ stories. Any suggestions are welcome.
