Population growth to 2050

The population of southern Africa is expected to fall by nearly a quarter by the year 2050 because of AIDS, says a new study. A report by the Population Reference Bureau also says that India will overtake China as the world’s most populous country. Central Africa is expected to be the area of most growth, with numbers almost doubling by the middle of the century. The study reveals that 97 per cent of population growth is now in developing countries.
