Support for Bush slipping?

August 7th, 2003 | by aobaoill |

There’s a new Pew report support for Bush is slipping:

As President Bush shows increasing political vulnerability, the Democratic presidential field is slowly coming into focus. Bush’s approval rating has declined to 53% and his lead in a match-up with a hypothetical Democrat has narrowed to five points (43%-38%), from ten points last month. A growing number of Americans (57%) now rate the economy — not the war on terrorism — as the more important presidential priority.

The latest Pew Research Center national survey, conducted July 14-Aug. 5, finds a further decline in evaluations of the military effort in Iraq. But a solid majority (63%) continues to agree with the decision to go to war, although the number who say it was the wrong decision has climbed from 19% in April to 30% in the current survey.
