NYT to launch weblog-style output

A post on CyberJournalist.net about the fact that the New York Times is considering launching weblogs raises, once again, the question as to what a weblog is. When someone runs a weblog, under the auspices of their employer’s marque/title, and does so as part of their job, is this to be considered a weblog in anything other than superficial format?
