There’s a discussion of electronic voting at K5. Its mainly US-centric, and the jump-off story itself provides little new information for those who have been following the issue. However, it does provide a useful summary of some of the recent controversies.
From an Irish point of view, the government’s blindness to potential problems continues unabated. In this context, I hope to put the notes of my talk on electronic voting (last January in NUI, Galway) online soon. For those who can’t wait, a decent summary is: the benefits of electronic voting are far outweighed by the dangers and the damage to the legitimacy of the democratic system.
