Patriot II

Much (well, not much, but some) controversy about the proposed extension of the USA Patriot Act. Much less discussion of the already instituted SEVIS system which tracks international students. I mean it – I looked for a token link, but couldn’t find anything appropriate, only INS-run pages and technology analyses (yawn). I know a friend of mine has written something, but it doesn’t seem to be available anywhere online yet (though those in U-C land can check out the Public I)
I’ve really noticed the huge distinction that Americans make between citizens and non-citizens. You can find implied similar distinctions in Ireland, but not as overt.
