Start a local campaign

January 20th, 2004 | by aobaoill |

Our campaign needs people to organise local campaigns around the country if we are to succeed. However, this need not be a daunting task. We include below a general outline of what this might involve, starting with straightforward tasks, and moving to more complex ones. Feel free to add your own comments or suggestions based on your own experience.

  • Let us know your plans, so we can add you to our list, let you know of any relevant developments, and put you in touch with other people in your area.
  • Draft a press release for your local paper explaining the issues, and providing contact details for those interested (please include this website).
  • Download our posters and flyers, and print them out. Distribute copies in your workplace, college, or among houses in your area. Put posters in shops, cafes, and similar places.
  • If you have a number of people you may want to set up a street stand and distribute flyers and leaflets.
  • Hold a public meeting. Have literature available for people, and someone to launch discussion, as well as a chairperson. Pass around a notepad or clipboard, collecting contact details of those in attendance. If people want to be added to our mailing list, pass their email addresses to us.

As we get closer to 11th June we will be developing plans for specific co-ordinated action. If you want to be involved with these, it is important that we have your details available to us.
