MDH for President?

The press speculation on Michael D Higgins running for president continues. As a Labour member from Galway I’ve obviously been involved with campaigning for Michael for many years. I think he would be a strong candidate – I know his candidacy would be popular within the Labour Party, and he is one of the few people with the necessary profile, even with those without an interest in or knowledge of politics. He would also be a good president – his intellect, moral commitment, and understanding of culture and the arts is perhaps unparalleled within the country.
