Fighting the Cow

In an interesting example of how weblogs can help the generation of activist groupings, I received a mail this morning from Tristan at tnl.net. He was responding to my previous posts about Dr Pepper’s new ‘Raging Cow’ campaign.Tristan has proposed what he callsthe full disclosure xml feed, which would presumably work on an honour basis to alert readers to campaigns such as Raging Cow. An interesting idea, which would presumably require widespread takeup (and some form of automated filter/reader) in order to be effective. Given the discomfort many bloggers will have with the development of such campaigns, it might just catch on.To go back to the group-generation issue, for a moment, it seems that Tristan found my blog, and others, through a search on blogdex, and then did a followup mailing to listed contact addresses. Which gives an idea of how the various tools – weblog, aggregator, analysis tool – can fit together to build rapid responses to new developments, in a manner that requires no shared background or previous knowledge of each other (other than having a weblog, and being listed on blogdex-style lists).
