Details of Bush’s visit to Ireland

March 24th, 2004 | by aobaoill |

According to the Irish Times Bush will spend only 12 hours in Ireland this June:

Plans for the visit, now well advanced, indicate that Mr Bush will arrive late on June 25th from Washington and stay the night at a location outside Dublin, possibly Dromoland Castle in Co Clare or Ashford Castle in Co Mayo.
The formal summit meeting on June 26th is expected to last two hours, followed by a 90-minute working lunch, according to sources in Washington.

Both venues are fairly close to where I live (within 100 miles), and I’ll be around, so I expect to be able to attend whatever protests are organised (details have yet to be announced. The short visit means protests will have to be early on a Saturday morning, but I’m sure they’ll still occur. Which reminds me – it’s 20 years since I was at the protests against Reagan during his trip to Ireland in an election year. Can’t see Bush carrying over 40 states in November though….
