Amnesty expresses concerns about Guantanamo

May 11th, 2004 | by aobaoill |

From Interworld Radio:

Human rights groups are demanding the United States opens all its detention facilities across the world to independent scrutiny. The call is from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, and follows the publication of pictures showing American soldiers abusing and humiliating prisoners in Iraq. The two groups say they repeatedly told the US administration about problems in Iraqi jails, but were ignored until the photographs were published. They say there are particular concerns about the camp at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
