RFPI looking to get back on air

July 29th, 2004 | by aobaoill |

It seems that Radio for Peace International is back on the ‘net, and looking to get back on the air. Readers may recall that the station, based on the campus of the ‘University for Peace’ (a UN project) in Costa Rica, was forced off the air last year. However we have now, via Prometheus, received a request from them for transmitters:

RFPI (Radio For Peace International) is looking for one or more 50kw Short Wave or AM Transmitters that could be converted to Short Wave. Any information available locating such at hopefully minimal cost would be helpful.
RFPI is back on the net with audio programming at www.rfpi.org and we are working hard to get the existing Short Wave Transmitters back on the air broadcasting to the Americas, Europe and North Africa.
The additional Transmitters requested above would carry additional programs on separate frequencies aimed at locations without any existing community radio service.
