Decadence

A new Pew report claims that 53% of Americans believe torture should rarely or never be used ‘to gain important information.’ So the other 47% see torture as something to be used more than ‘rarely? Well, the devil is in the detail – only 43% believe that (the other 4% disappear [insert macabre joke here]).
As always, the report has many more ‘fun’ details. 10% of Americans think the US is more respected than it was before it attacked Iraq. One third of the 67% who realise it is less respected say that isn’t a major problem.
66% of Americans say the top priority for US foreign policy should be to be cautious. 62% say be decisive. So at least 28% of Americans believe that the US should be decisive about being cautious? 33% of Americans believe the Bush administration tries too hard for diplomacy!
OK, I’ve really got to take a break – but go read it yourself. Fun for all the family (though perhaps not suitable for viewers under 14, as they say on Adult Swim).
