Advertising to children on Irish TV

The BCI has published a Children’s Advertising Code. Some of the debate around the code is unsurprising – advertisers argue both that advertising does not affect children, and that children need exposure as children to innoculate them as adults. Funny people!
However, the response to the details adopted points on the one hand to the watering down that happened during the consultation process, and that the code will not apply to programming originating outside the state (which accounts for about 50% of viewing).
