Some dates

Yesterday being the first of February I was prompted to check just when Pancake Tuesday was falling this year (some of you may know it as Shrove Tuesday, ‘Fat’ Tuesday, or Mardi Gras). It’s next Tuesday, 8th February – guess I’d better go and buy more eggs and butter. mmmm… pancakes…
Speaking of dates, today (2nd February) is mainly celebrated here in the States as Groundhog Day (it’s also Candlemas), but a (legitimate!) ping to this site, and also Sabryna, reminded me that it’s James Joyce’s birthday. Hurrah! Without him, of course, there would not be a funferal.
Finally, of course, yesterday, 1st, was the first day of Spring, celebrated in Ireland as St. Brigid’s Day.
