Sun in anti-Traveller rant
March 14th, 2005 | by aobaoill |Interesting to catch, in Foinse, word of a ‘campaign’ by the Sun newspaper in Britain against what it is terming a ‘gypsy invasion’ but which is actually centred on members of the Irish Travelling community:

Tá na húdaráis in Éirinn ag caitheamh na milliúin euro ar láithreacha campála buana don lucht siúil seo in Éirinn. An chuid sin den lucht siúil gur mian leo coinneáil ag bogadh ar an mbóthar, níl an dara rogha acu ach teacht chun na Breataine.”

I’ve been reading and listerning to the articles of the last few week, and has a English traveller,(my family origins have been in this country since the doomsday book) it makes me very frightend. I live in an house and have done now for eight years.Its not so long ago that the kosovan’s and Albainian’s were fighting and at war over the same anti gypsy issues.gypsies are people too,I’m one my nieghbours are’nt,how long has my family got left.I use to get told as a child at school get back to where you came from.Where’s that then. I’m scared so are a lot of other law abiding English and other gypsie people.

i am a english traveller and what i have seen in news papers and on televison makes me feel sick, i havent even seen a proper traveller, all thats being shown it irish travellers & the worst camps in england, you must think that travellers has just come to england well your wrong travellers has been here for hundreds & hundreds of years & they have lived & died for england in all the wars look at VC Jack Cunningham from yorkshire he was a VC and a traveller, but to day travellers get tret like scum!!!!
