Daily Illini amends content

August 1st, 2005 | by aobaoill |

Minor issue really, but the student paper here in Urbana has made some changes to their contents. They’ve dropped the daily police report, which listed many of the reported crimes in the Urbana-Champaign area. They’ve also added a crossword puzzle, but in a different part of the newspaper, so it may not be a straight quid pro quo.
I suppose there may be other changes, but today I’m fixated on the sub-editing that paired an AP report on Iran’s threat to resume producing enriched uranium with the headline Iran Threatens to produce atomic weapons; Europe negotiation needed. Yes, enriched uranium can be used for weaponry, but there is a difference, in degree if not in ultimate intent.
