Responding to the Bush victory

Thursday, November 4th, 2004

I dislike this man. The Irish Taoiseach (prime minister), Bertie Ahern, has said a Kerry presidency would have been bad for Ireland (due to Kerry's commitment to use tax policy to encourage US companies to invest in the US). Possibly true, but there was no need to make the comment ...

Last post of the evening? Things not looking so good

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2004

Wow. Things have changed a bit since that flurry of entries at the beginning of the evening. I'm at the party, which is quieter than it was, and everyone's somewhat upset at the turn things have taken. With Bush taking Florida (predicted for Kerry this morning), even though Kerry seems ...

An interesting example of responses to the technical problems

Election Night IV

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2004

CNN are discussing the problems of four years ago, as being that they called the election too soon in 2000. Of course that was an important factor - but weren't problems with the election mechanisms (not just equipment) also core problems?

Election Night II

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2004

Listening to CNN at the moment, just as they start calling results - well, there'll be a 3 minute delay for the sake of propriety. I'm going to post updates in the - temporarily open - comments section of this post.

Election night part I

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2004

Like others I'm waiting for the results to roll in. Looks like I won't have to wait too long - Zogby has called it for Kerry - with 311 EC votes, but with Bush winning the popular vote. This mirrors Al Giordano's call a few days ago (he said 310), ...

Where will you be when it all goes down?

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2004

I'm planning on following the results at a local election-night gathering this evening, hopefully using Wi-Fi to keep up with online sources, apart from the TV/radio. I'll also be chatting with various friends online, so if you want to check in and chat, try funferal@mac.com (AIM) or funferal@passport.com (MSN). Of ...

Secret life of Weird Al?

Paul over at Media Geek has just posted a pointer to a political ad that, as he points out:Smears [a] candidate as 'Weird Al Impersonator'Weird indeed.
