The United Kingdom has been rather late to the game in developing community radio - undoubtedly a legacy of the Thatcher years when, of course, we were informed that society (and presumably community) didn't exist. New stations are now, however, being rolled out, with the latest being an announcement today ...

I heard this first via a Twitter Tracking update, and then tracked down more detailed information online. It seems that Bangladesh may soon get community radio stations, something that has been pushed for for some time.

A short item, but a heart-warming one. There's now a community radio broadcast station in Antarctica. They're looking for donations of content, preferably by CD or CD-R (as internet access is limited for them).
