Rowing interlude

June 19th, 2005 | by Andrew Ó Baoill |

My sister, Heather, was racing at the Rowing World Cup in Munich this weekend, and has performed well. As reported on RTÉ:

The women’s lightweight double (LW2x) of Niamh NiCheilleacher and Heather Boyle impressively won the ‘B’ final, with four seconds to spare over the British twosome in second. This means they finished in seventh overall, a significant improvement on 11th overall in Eton three weeks ago.

It was a good weekend for the Irish with both men’s fours – heavyweight and lightweight – gaining bronzes.

The international season continues in three weeks with the World Cup in Lucerne, and then at the end of August with the World Championships in Japan. Here’s hoping it continues in good form for Heather and the rest of the squad!
