About funferal
funferal is a website focusing on participatory and alternative media. There’s a bit of politics thrown in too, and occasionally some more light-hearted information.
funferal is a project of Andrew Ó Baoill, an assistant professor at Cazenovia College. I hold my PhD from the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and am a native of Galway, Ireland. I am a life-long political and media activist.
There are also occasional posts by guest columnists.
Why ‘funferal’? What does it mean?
The word ‘funferal’ first appeared in James Joyce’s “Finnegan’s Wake”, and is seen as an amalgam of funeral and fun-for-all, encapsulating some of the themes of that book.
